Where it all started

Growing up I always loved camp! An opportunity to spend all day outdoors, try something new, cook food together, play games and have a lot of fun.

Whether this was school camp, group travel, or simply family friend get aways I would always come home and wish I could go back and relive it.

As I got older, I started to explore more activities focused on the outdoors. I went camping a lot, bought a van, took my friends on hikes and so on. It was a space I could disconnect from the hustle and bustle from routine - I could switch off and just be present.

I learnt that I am often happiest when living simply - some good company, food and everything I need in a bag.

I think this love and passion really grew in Norway. In 2019 I headed to Bergen to study Anthropology for 6 months. This is a city in Norway also referred to as the gateway to the Fjords. In those 6 months I fell in love with nature, hiking and the outdoors. I visited so many places that made me feel small (in a good way).

Towards the end of our trip a group of 6 of us headed to Iceland for a week. We would spend all day exploring - it was like natures theme park - waterfalls, hot springs, mountains, beaches, volcanos - everything.

The goal of camp hoppi originally was to give people a taste of this experience over a weekend close to home. Recently we have started hosting global trips - which I am very excited about.

I feel so incredibly fortunate to of slowly created this community. To have met so many who share similar values, to have connected new friends and to have explored along side each other.
