My packing list - 7 month trip

From skiing in Japan, working on ranches in Canada, hiking Kilimanjaro, camping in Norway, and backpacking through Europe—I needed to fit everything I would need for 7 months into two bags that I could easily move around with me. This meant packing for a wide range of climates, from snowy mountain peaks to humid jungles and bustling cities. Here is my packing list, along with my top three essential items at the bottom.

The Bags

  • 34L Osprey Tempest – Hiking Backpack – My go-to for day hikes and shorter trips away from my main base.

  • 80L Osprey Farpoint – Travel Backpack – Durable, comfortable to carry, and the right amount of space for this trip.

  • Uniqlo Small Crossbody Bag – For essentials like my passport, phone, and snacks while on the move.

Clothing (Minimalist but Functional)

I split this into two sections: hiking and everyday wear.

Hiking + Active Wear

  • 2 Fleece Jumpers - Zorali Air grid fleece & Zorali Cosy Camp Fleece

  • 1 Down Jacket - Kathmandu Puffer

  • 2 Hiking Pants - Zorali Women's Venture Pants

  • 1 Rain Jacket – Zorali Horizon Rainjacket

  • 1 Pair of Leggings – Lululemon Align (so comfortable)

  • 2 Pairs of Shorts – Lululemon bike pants & Zorali recycled shorts

  • 2 Sets of Thermals – Mac Pac & Kathmandu

  • 2 Hiking Shirts - Lululemon

  • 1 Sunshirt - This is a new addition but heard great things, keen to try it out

  • 2 Buffs - One for hiking and one for skiing

  • Ski Jacket and Pants - Will send these back after Japan to make some more space

  • Waterproof Pants

  • Gloves - Ski gloves & Merino

  • Hats - Beanie & Camp Hoppi Cap

Everyday Wear

  • 1 x bikinis - Zulu + Zephyr

  • 3 x Tops - Uniqlo mini tee are the best

  • 2 x Long sleeve shirts - Loose linen shirt and Uniqlo

  • 2 Pairs of Jeans – I love Abrand High & Wide pants; I brought a black & denim pair

  • Sarong

  • 2 Singlets - Uniqlo, can’t go wrong

  • 1 Pair of Denim Shorts - Abrand

  • 2 Linen Long Pants - Glassons

  • 1 Pair of Pajama Pants - Uniqlo

  • Underwear etc.

Footwear (The Toughest Decision!)

  • Hiking Boots – Worn in and comfortable for long treks, mine are Merrells Moab Adventure 3 Mid (Waterproof)

  • Blundstones – Everyday shoe

  • Sandals – Quick slip-on for warm weather and hostel showers, Zorali Trailblazer are amazing

Travel Essentials

  • Reusable Water Bottle & Water Filter - Katadyn BeFree 0.6L Water Filter

  • Compression Packing Cubes – Keeps everything organized and compact

  • Notebook & Kindle – Because I love to write and read on the road

  • Dry Bags - great for keeping everything dry and seperating dirty/wet clothes when packing

  • Pack of cards - never go a trip without them, great way to get to know people

  • Eye Mask

  • Camera - Fuji Film X T-3

  • Watercolour Set - great opportunity to sit in a space and paint

  • Silk Pillowcase

  • Microfiber Towel – Fast-drying and compact

  • Sleeping Bag Liner – Useful for hostels and camping

  • Neck Pillow - Turtl

  • Power Bank

  • Adaptor + Cords

  • Photo Album - To collect post cards from my travells

  • Loop Earplugs

  • Sunnies

  • AirPods

  • Bowl & Cutlery

Camping gear

  • Sleeping Mat - Highly recommend an inflatable mat

  • Sleeping Bag

  • Sleeping Pillow - Sea to Summit is good

  • Zorali Highlands 2P Tent

  • Head Torch

  • 3L Water Bladder

Toiletries (The Basics, Plus Some Extras)

  • Solid Shampoo & Conditioner Bars – Last longer and save space

  • Resuable Razor

  • Face Wash & Moisturiser

  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste

  • Zinc & Sunscreen

  • First Aid Kit – Bandaids, painkillers, electrolytes, and a few other essentials

  • Antibiotics from doctors (make sure to check with your Dr. before travelling)


My Top Three Essentials So Far

  1. Zorali Airgrid fleece – The best all-around jumper for hiking, skiing, and everday wear.

  2. Compression Packing Cubes – Organises everything easily and makes it compact.

  3. Airpods noise canceling – A game-changer for hostels, flights, and day to day use.
